These linen pillow cases are hand embroidered by a small community of under privileged women. The bright handmade tassels add a pop of color to the otherwise muted color tones.
Our hand embroidered pillow features a beautiful form of embroidery called Kantha. Kantha is one of the oldest forms of embroidery that originated in India. Housewives in rural Bengal played a significant part in the evolution of Kantha embroidery. It was customary for these women to make use of Kantha’s widely used running stitch and embroidery techniques to create quilts for their families, as well as embroider's personal fabrics and garments such as sarees, dhotis and handkerchiefs with simple running stitches along the edges. For centuries, the techniques of this craft were, and still are, passed down from mother to daughter.
By choosing this handmade piece, you help preserve craftsmanship and support rural artisan communities. We truly appreciate your support.
